"Love the tune...Nay to cliché riddled Christmas songs, that's what the old ones are for!" - Phantom FM's Claire Beck

"A sleepy and folky love ballad...The soft and sweet melody and instrumentation are great" - Sound and Motion Magazine single review (bit.ly/1brwrgN)

"Every Christmas (You're Not Quite Her)" is a heartbreaking slice of Yuletide melancholia. It is slightly over 2 minutes of bittersweet crooning, accompanied by piano, glockenspiel and a mournful cello. In terms of tone, it falls somewhere between White Christmas and the feeling you get when you find out the truth about Santa Claus. Lyrically, it explores the conflicts inherent in a relationship where one half pines over an irreplaceable lost love. In short, it is the saddest Christmas song you'll hear this year.

Yossarian Lives is Rob Shiels, Ger Lynch, James Lindsay and James Lovatt, a four-piece electro-folk-pop band from Dublin, Ireland. They've drawn comparisons with The Magnetic Fields and Sufjan Stevens, going so far as to support The Magnetic Fields on the Olympia Theatre date of their world tour. "Every Christmas" marks an evolution of their sound, aided by the addition of YouTube star Katelyn Cohen on cello.

Produced by James Lindsay. Mastered by Aidan Foley of MasterLabs.

lyrics

Baby, I've got a secret:
I gave away my heart and she still keeps it.

I lie in bed beside you wondering if you knew:
You're not quite her but you'll do.

Baby, our connection
Is solid enough with one exception:

You and I are stuck with Pritt Stick; to her I was glued.
You're not quite her but you'll do.

I can't forget her;
It's in the little details, the things you do,
And I miss her more with every New Year
And every Christmas too.

Sometimes I don't think of
Her and I tell myself that "I am in love.

There was no-one else; you're all I ever knew,
And my first love is you."

But baby, that ain't true;
You're not quite her but you'll do.
