We tore apart, we tore apart, Your power's off but do you dream? Your brain and your robotic heart, We tore apart at the seams. Well baby sometimes I shiver and tremble At the thought of you, disassembled, Baby sometimes I can't shake the feeling Now I've grown so tired of seeing you Cut up, cut up, cut up, cut up, cut up, I can't stand seeing you Cut up, cut up, cut up, cut up, cut up, I can't stand seeing you. When all is lost, when all is lost, When there is nothing left to find, I know the cost, I know the cost, I've left the valley behind. But can I make things right? Patch you with tape. We will slip out of sight As we escape But will that make things right? Oh I think not. I'm putting up a fight - for what? Baby, sometimes I shiver and tremble At the thought of you, disassembled Baby sometimes I can't shake the feeling Now I've grown so tired of seeing you Cut up, cut up, cut up, cut up, cut up, I can't stand seeing you Cut up, cut up, cut up, cut up, cut up, I can't stand seeing you. Baby sometimes I shiver and tremble At the thought of you, disassembled, Baby sometimes I shiver and tremble At the thought of you.

I had two girls, That way everybody wins, Had to make a choice, Now I'm paying for my sins. My conscience said "What are you doing to them?" So I retired the one And put the other to bed. To run to Toronto, Dig a hole if you say so, To run to Toronto, Cut a hole in the ozone. Oh, me and my girl We are living so honest, I'm smelling so sweet You could bottle my sweat. But sometimes I think 'Bout what I have left behind, My heart bleeds When that girl is on my mind. To run to Toronto, Dig a hole if you say so, To run to Toronto, Cut a hole in the ozone. Can you? I've settled down, That's what everybody says, But I've met a new girl Who's relit the fire in my head. To run to Toronto, Dig a hole if you say so, To run to Toronto, Cut a hole in the ozone.

Being the president has its complications: One false step and you face excoriation. Before your reputation is eroded, Follow my guide which, for ease, is colour-coded. Let's start with international minutiae: Islamic revolution left Iran fuschia. Your armed forces can handle the Koreans; Trouble at sea? Send aquamarines. CHORUS Turquoise is an educated Ottoman, Bet you never knew. There's this girl, she's already got a man, Could you fix that too? 'Cause I'm very, very, very dark blue Beat the recession with your economic green plan, Federal Reserve's doing better without Greenspan. Jobs, health care, foreclosures: will it ever end? Banks are saved but everybody's in the red. CHORUS They say you're the first president who's black, But you never tell a lie so I guess that makes you lilac. Sorry if this guide took ages, If you've any questions, consult the yellow pages. Just stay on course with your Middle East agenda, The Peace Prize left your face a bit magenta. Turquoise is an educated Ottoman, Bet you never knew. There's this girl, she's already got a man, Could you fix that too? Your country's down but I can see it coming back, It'll pull right through, Red white blue, to them you have added black, But any colour will do, As long as it's not very, very, very dark blue.

Remember when I said I loved you? Well...can you forget? I've known you such a long time And I don't want to lose a friend. I had not invited this love unrequited But I'm dealing with it in the only way I know how. And now I'm not so certain that what I'm doing's working, So what the hell am I to do now? I want to interrupt your life, To crack open its head, Take all the dreams inside, Share them round in bed. I had not invited this love unrequited, But I'm dealing with it in the only way I know how, And now I'm not so certain that what I'm doing's working So what the hell am I to do now? What the hell am I, What the hell am I, What the hell am I to do now. Oh I'd stand up and shout it out loud, But I doubt it would have any effect, And you'd still turn me down, I could talk for hours but I'd still be a coward, So what the hell am I, What the hell am I, What the hell am I to do now?

Babe, there's things that only we know, Things they'll never see, That's the way I want it to be. I never know which way to look Or what I will see. Whenever you walk by me Oh! My heart's a-swell, Love is hell So don't tread on me. Well babe, there's some things that you aughta, You blew me out of the water, Into the sea. Well babe, then nothing really matters When your heart is battered Brown and crispy. I never know which way to look Or what I will see. Whenever you walk by me Oh! My heart's a-swell, Love is hell, So don't tread on me. You never know which way to look Or what you will see. Whenever you walk by me Oh! My heart's a-swell, Love is hell, So don't tread on me. Oh love, don't tread on me.

about

The 5-track Uncanny Valley EP was recorded by Rob in February 2010. Rob shelved these original recordings before they were ever published, so this 2013 remastered release marks the first time The Uncanny Valley has been available to the public.

Written and recorded in the wake of a tumultuous breakup, its stories of love, longing and robots are wrapped in a tortilla of melancholia. The songs cover a wide range of genres, from the bombastic orchestral pop of "What The Hell Am I To Do Now" to the quiet introspective folk of the Bright Eyes-esque "Don't Tread On Me". Consistent throughout are an adherence to intelligent, coherent lyrics and a McCartney-esque appreciation of melody.

about

Yossarian Lives Dublin, Ireland

Yossarian Lives began in 2007 as the pseudonym of Rob Shiels, a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Dublin. The name eventually expanded to engulf 3 others - Ger Lynch, James Lindsay and James Lovatt, musical veterans of Valetta, Brazen Lungs and The Crayon Set respectively. The foursome specialise in quirky, clever lyrics set to catchy melodic hooks and spiffy electro-folk-pop arrangements. ... more
